Summer Reading Challenge 2018

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at the local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge.  There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part! Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August Stockfest

Tuesday 14th August 2018 – Poynton Library – John Kirk storyteller

On Tuesday 14th August at 10.00am storyteller, John Kirk, will be performing Dennis and the Chamber of Mischief.  It’s £3.00 per person (Parents/carers and children). Suitable for children aged 6 and over. Please book and pay in advance.


Monday 20th August – Poynton Library – Meet the Police

Go along to Poynton Library Monday 20th August between 10.30am and 12.00 noon and meet the Police. Have your fingerprints taken, try on a uniform, and see inside a police car. Free, and no need to book.


Saturday 25th August 2018 – Poynton Show

 On Saturday 25th August from 8-5pm at Poynton Pool, the annual Horticultural and Agricultural show, celebrating local farmers, growers and local talent is back. The day starts early with show jumping and judging of Shires, Cattle and Donkeys some with humorous and educational commentaries.

A great opportunity to take part in a local event by exhibiting in one of the many competitive sections. Can you bake, make jam or are you an artist or photographer,or creative? Then check out the website, you can showcase your talent and could even win a rosette in the Creative hobbies section.

Discounted family ticket in advance of Show day is only £20 (2 adults up to 3 children) under 5’s free. Dogs on a lead are welcome (you could even enter into the Dog Show on the day).

25th August 2018 – Charity Fun Day for Ollie’s Army

There’s a charity fun day at St Saviours Church in Great Moor Stockport on Saturday 25th August 2018 to raise funds and awareness CNL2 Battens Disease which is a disease where children are unable to make an enzyme which is responsible for eliminating waste that builds up in the brain.  Ollie’s Army is campaigning to get the only available treatment funded by the NHS as NICE’S decision was NO.

At the event there will be a bouncy castle, a raffle, hook a duck, crafts, face painting, guess the teddies name, guess how many sweets plus lots more it’s going to be between 1130-430pm. The organiser looking for businesses that are willing to donate prizes.  For more information, please contact


25th – 27th August 2018 – Cheshire Game and Country Fair

Three main arenas showcase display teams of dogs, horses, falconry plus much more. There is also a craft village, vintage and steam, family entertainment, food and drink and the English Open Chainsaw Carving 2018.
