We understand that one of the most important things parents consider when choosing a nursery is the team of people that will be caring for their child. We have carefully put together our own First Step’s family, and we hope you will enjoy reading a little more about our wonderful team.

In each newsletter, we will meet the team members in each of our rooms and share a little more about them and what they get up to in a normal day at First Steps. We are also sharing our team structure, again to make sure each parent is aware of which members of our team work in each room.

We begin with our ‘Babies’ room. This room is a stimulating, bright and welcoming space designed to meet the specific needs of young babies.

Elizabeth Keeling leads our team of Sophie Richardson and Charlotte Ashworth who all have experience in nurturing the very youngest children in our nursery and will put every single parent at ease, even on their very first day. They make sure each individual baby gets the special care and attention they need in their first year.

Sophie, Charlotte and Elizabeth have all been long-standing members of the team with Charlotte joining us nine years ago, Sophie being with us an impressive 17 years and Elizabeth will soon be topping that by celebrating her 20th year with us.

Keeping your children safe forms a very important part of our care here at First Steps. We want you to be able to rest in the knowledge that your children are in the safest possible hands whilst you’re not here and for that reason, we take all our training very seriously.

All our ‘Babies’ team members hold their NVQ 3 qualification in Child Development, with Elizabeth holding an NVQ 4, as well as current paediatric first aid certificates and are trained in safeguarding to ensure they offer the very best care.

The team in ‘Babies’ make sure they get to know each family and child so they can create a home-from-home environment for the little ones. There are lots of toys, books and stimulating activities in this room to help build the confidence and engage their curious minds.

If you wish to know any more about our team in this room, please pop your head in and ask away next time you are in.

On another note…

Whilst we are on the subject of babies, we will soon have a member of staff returning after having her own beautiful bundle of joy, Lily. In November, the lovely Lauren will be returning for one day week, before moving up to three days in January. Lauren will return to her role in the ‘Tweenies’ room.
