As we say goodbye to August and the summer holidays draw to a close its been a busy old month here at First Steps.

We’ve been learning all about people in the community and pets this month and it’s been great fun for everyone. We’ve had some furry friends in to meet the children, including Xenia the dog and Princess the cat. The children thoroughly enjoyed meeting the pets and learnt all about what it takes to look after and care for them. Both pets were very well behaved and enjoyed making some new friends and getting lots of stokes and cuddles.

We’ve also done lots of ‘show and tell’ this last month, with children bringing in items from their holidays and weekend adventures. We have really enjoyed chatting these through with the rest of the group and learning lots of new things about the world around us.

We have also had lots of the children bringing in their storybooks from home. This has been wonderful as we have read some new ones, some old favourites and explored some new authors too.

We’ve continued with lots of messy play in all rooms and all the children have really enjoyed exploring our themes in a sensory way.

As always, we love it when our families get involved at the nursery, so please do feel free to get in touch if you have an interesting role in the Poynton community and beyond, and/or you have a friendly pet you’d like to bring in. We welcome this at any time of the year.

As back to school is upon us, we would like to remind parents of our wrap around care options and Steps Kids holiday club. Please do get in touch with us if we can help you in any way, even if it is last minute – we are always here to help!
