October – what a busy month!
Our theme throughout October was Autumn and Harvest. The children did lots of seasonal crafts and activities.
We have also taught them about Diwali and they enjoyed getting crafty and learning more about this festival.
Where we can, we try and arrange some special visitors to come along to educate and entertain the children.
In October, we had a visit from the CPSOs to talk to the older children about road safety, they listened carefully and asked loads of questions. They also had the chance to get a picture by the police car, which they all enjoyed.
We also had a visit from author, Lucy Keeling, who came in to read her new book. Lucy is the niece of Elizabeth Keeling who leads the ‘Babies’ room and her book is called ‘Robots don’t say please and can’t eat cheese’. The children sat and listened brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lucy and hearing her creative story.
Each year we celebrate Halloween with the children, our annual fancy dress party took place on Tuesday 31st October. There were some spooky goings-on and the children loved dressing up and scaring us all.
In way of updates across the nursery itself, we have had a new artificial grass surface installed for the ‘Tweenies’ and ‘Toddlers’ to play on and a brand-new playhouse which has been very popular.
We have also said “bonjour” again to our wonderful French teacher, who is back teaching the ‘Pre-School’ room. Mrs Moehle holds a class once a week to help broaden the children’s language skills. So please do encourage any further learning at home.
