Hello October. Wow, you came around quickly, 2018 is flying by! As we embark on another new month, we start our new theme of Traditional Stories and Rhymes as well as using calendar dates to explore more of the world around us.
We will be doing lots of activities, crafts, songs, games, and stories on Halloween and Bonfire Night to help the children learn about these celebrated events. We will be having a fancy-dress party for the Early years room and Pre-school on 31st October to celebrate Halloween, so please feel free to send your children in costume if they wish to take part.
In covering our theme of Traditional Stories and Rhymes, we will be doing lots of story time exploring all the classics. We will also be partaking in lots of rhymes and songs to help the children learn. So, please feel free to send in any books or CDs to help us with our fun.
Nursery rhymes and songs are amazing teaching tools. They help children develop language skills by showcasing the different sounds of language. But, the social interaction is just as important. So, we would love it if all our families continue the theme at home, as it enables play and some one-on-one time with mummy or daddy. If you do – let us know how you get on.
In October we will also be celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which is always widely enjoyed by all the children.
We are sure we will be getting ready for Bonfire before we know it, so enjoy October, everyone!
