Our Rooms
Every day in a child’s life matters and we strive to make every day a memorable one. We believe each child deserves a magical start to nursery life, whatever age they arrive at First Steps. We provide lots of fun and structured activities, designed to stimulate a child’s enthusiasm to learn.
We have a vast selection of resources, toys and inclusive creative activities to enable every child to develop and flourish.
We follow the government recommended Early Years Foundation Stage framework, preparing each child appropriately for their transition to school.
Throughout your child’s journey at First Steps, their development is monitored and recorded by their allocated key worker. This involves the completion of tailored on-going observational assessments to track progress, which are also shared with parents.
We ensure every child is in a suitable environment for their level of development and needs, only moving rooms when they are ready to. The ages listed are a guide only.
Babies
Our baby room is a stimulating, bright and welcoming space designed to meet the specific needs of young babies.
Tweenies
The Tweenie room is a dynamic space targeted to support the children’s growth of independence, curiosity and creativity.
Early Years
In Early Years your child will be encouraged to start making more independent decisions, with a variety of free choice activities to choose from.
Pre School
In Pre-School your child is encouraged to learn and develop in a fun environment, giving a structured routine and opportunity for free play.
Sensory
In addition to the children’s base rooms we also have a fun and stimulating sensory room for the children to enjoy.
Outdoors
At First Steps we have an abundance of outdoor space including 3 gardens, each filled with resources targeted at different ages.
